MELISSA HULA RECEIVES HONOR

Melissa Hula, member of Central Christian Church and Business & Information Technology instructor at Autry Technology Center has earned her profession's top honor by achieving National Board Certification through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
Melissa received her National Certification in Early Adolescence Through Young Adulthood Career and Technology Education.

National Board Certification is voluntary and open to all people who have a baccalaureate degree and three years of classroom experience in either a public or private school.  It is valid for 10 years, after which a teacher must seek renewal.  The fee for National Board Certification is $2300.
Melissa, sent in four entries as was required for the certification process.  The entries included assessment tools that she uses to track student progress, videos of teacher demonstrations and teamwork projects being implemented in the classroom and documentation of accomplishments, which included enhancing student learning, parental involvement and overall contributions to the educational process. Melissa was also tested on a variety of topics related to their field of expertise.

Celebrate World Children's Day
November 20th!

This weekend, CWF invites you to celebrate World Children's Day with McDonalds!  Right now, McDonald's is selling paper hands for $1, so you can "give a hand" to children.  Each dollar goes directly to the Ronald McDonald House.  In addition, November 18-20, 15 cents from every Value Meal or Happy Meal you buy will also go to the Ronald McDonald house.  So take your kids and grandkids to Mickey D's this weekend, and know that you've helped a child in a very real way!
