Healing Service
   On Sunday, September 19, we will have another Prayer Service for Healing in the Sanctuary at 7:00 pm.  Our first service was in March and it was powerful.  This is a service of hymns, prayers, responsive readings and scripture texts.  It will be a gathering of the faith community to seek God's action to make whole or well a physical body, spirit or relationship.
   While such services are outside the "normal" practice of Disciples and mainline churches, they are deeply rooted in the Christian tradition and faith experience.  Our Sunday evening liturgy will be from Chalice Worship, a Disciples publication.
Prayer Service
   On Monday, September 13, Central Christian Church held its first weekly prayer service at noon.  Fifteen people attended.  Rev. John McLemore, Rev. Don Johnson, Rev. Sherry Shaw, Rev. Sam Justice, and Cindy Worthington--Chair of the Elders led this service.
   We prayed for individuals and their needs, our church, and our nation.  Cards were sent to several people to tell them we prayed for them at this service.  We hope more people come to this weekly prayer service.
Prayer Support Group
   Our Prayer Support Group continues.  Every week, we mail or E-mail a list of prayer concerns to 56 people who pray for Central on a daily basis.  Would you volunteer to pray for Central, its people and its programs?  Please call Stephanie at the church and sign up for this program.
Attendance and Prayer Request Cards
   We need your help.  When you fill out your attendance card on Sunday, we can determine who is attending and just as important, who is not attending.  This gives us information on who to call, and ask if we can minister to them.  These cards are also an opportunity for prayer requests.  In our weekly prayer service, we pray for every prayer request on these cards.
