Board Minutes from October 16, 2002

   The General Board of Central Christian Church held it's meeting Wednesday, October 16, 2002.  The following is a brief overview of the transactions that took place during the meeting:
   The Stewardship Department reported that pledges to date were about 5% below the amount pledged.  Expenditures were just about even with the budget projection.
   Rev. McLemore requested that attention be given to several areas around the church including the exterior of the building, and the loggia, carpet in the sanctuary, and a desperate need for a new copy machine.
   The Worship Department is planning for the upcoming holiday activities including Thanksgiving Sunday, Christmas decorations, Advent devotions, and Christmas events.
   The Evangelism Department has established a Connections Committee that small groups will serve as resources for involvement of prospective new members.  They established a Sunday School Campaign Committee which will work with the Education Department to help enhance Sunday school attendance.  They will also be coordinating with the Membership Department in making New Year's in Rio successful.
   The Education Department reported that Devon McAnally has submitted her resignation.  The calendar fund raiser is in full swing.  Also CACS and the Education Department will again organize the DHS Foster Children's Christmas Party on December 7.  A new Sunday school class taught by Cliff Elliott will begin soon.
   The Property Department reported that the Duralast roofing system on the Loggia is complete.  Property subcommittees have completed surveys for needed construction improvements.  The committee is looking at options for improving the Loggia.
   The Personnel Committee accepted Devon McAnally's resignation.  Carolyn McLemore will serve as Interim Education Director with Debbie Mueller assuming the role of Chairman of the Education Committee.  They also reviewed the procedure for hiring personnel to replace Joye Parks and accepted per the job description.
